The phone call

I got the call from my doctor this morning. The biopsy came back negative, what does that mean? Dr. White put it perfectly on the phone this morning, “I want you to continue living your life as normal.” Of course, with cancer, I don’t think it’s truely ever over. I will have to be monitored closely, tests every other month for the time being to track my situation.

How am I feeling right now? I really don’t know… I’m in a state of shock perhaps, I feel as though I should be much happier than I am. I am NOT in a bad mood however, this is all wonderful news. I might go get a tattoo during my lunch break.

  2. FYI to all… I did get that tattoo. A cancer ribbon on my right shoulder blade with some text to describe exactly what I think of cancer.

  3. Ryan, your mom and I celebrated with a great meal at Anthony’s. I’m sure you’ll let us know when the enormity of today’s GREAT news really hits home.

I’m happy beyond words for you. You fought cancer with grace, courage and an ATTITUDE appropriate to the situation as evidence by the new tattoo.

Brian, Ron / Jane (neighbors) & Uncle Denis / Aunt Margaret are elated for you.

I’m grateful and really proud you’re my son.

    Love, Dad.

  4. Ryan - That is great news and I know exactly how you feel as I recently just found out that I do not have TC for a second time. Just found out last week and could not be happier. I am extremely happy for you!

Don’t worry about feeling a bit strange. I found my news to be a happy moment, but then reflected on what could have been and also on people who currently have it. Though it is great news to hear there is just so much that runs through your head. Just shows the range of emotion we all feel.

    LIVESTRONG!

  5. YIPEE! What wonderful news - I’m so happy and relieved for you. It’s not unusual to feel non-plussed at a good result since we tend to prepare ourselves mentally for the worst so we can cope - and then feel strangely out of kilta when the news is good. It will sink in soon and then boy will you celebrate! :-)

Do we get to see a photo of the tatoo? It sounds really cool.

  6. Ryan,

Your aunt Margaret and I are so happy for you! Now you can move forward with your life in whatever way you are led. Let the good news sink in! :-)
